A downloadable game

Gamers are the best.

They really are, they care so damn much about a product that they'll go out of their way to document everything, talk about it, come up with new strategies, post videos, and everything else in-between. There's something endearing a game can bring out in a community, something I've always had a deep affection for.

Superesse Mortuus is based off a game, two in fact: Project Zomboid and Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. I wanted to write a game that gave the impression of being in a hostile, unforgiving, landscape filled to the brim with things that would like nothing more than to rip the flesh from your bones and feast on it in front of you. Unfortunately, turning Twitter into a game would just result in further depression, so I instead opted to create a zombie apocalypse, one where the most dangerous thing isn't necessarily the Risen, but instead the ever-present dread of starvation, dehydration, depression, and illness that presides over Survivors in the apocalypse.

Superesse Mortuus employs a D100 system, keeping many things in a percentile base as well. Tracking everything from individual wounds on body parts to keeping track of hunger, thirst, and other important metrics. The goal is simply to survive and thrive, where a single bad attack can put you on the ground and gasping for air. It's clunky to play, but it was more of a proof-of-concept I wrote in little less than a month in-between two other major projects, two deep dives into series, and consistently making videos.

Remember folks, game jams are a time for innovation! Not posting the same stuff over, and over again. And I always write something new with the restrictions presented.

The Person Icon is a Dwarf from Dwarf Fortress and the Map is taken directly from a CDDA Random Generated Map. I got mauled by a Mi-Go there, it was awful.

Edit: Minor fixes and wording stuff, remember kids, don't dev at 3 AM.
