Broken Crucible

The world of Aris houses the Crucible, a "Thing" of unexplainable power and magic that allows anyone who completes its various challenges and makes their way to it to become a Godlike entity. Both the fantasy world of Aris and the Stellarch Races of the Federation have seen fit to send their champions to find this ultimate power, no matter the cost.

But who would undertake such a lofty, dangerous, adventure? Madmen, lunatics, or maybe those with nothing to lose.

Broken Crucible spawned from a member of my server not finishing his game and then proceeding to get cucked due to it. It’s a long and convoluted story, but Broken Crucible started as “His Game” that I would write after a snide comment saying I couldn’t do it. Someone else proceeded to write his game and this one won a vote for me to work on. Life sometimes works out for those who wait, other times it does not. 

But there is something more than a vanity project to flex a bit, well there’s a few reasons. The first of which is that I want to play around with the 12v4 System more. The 12v4 System has been used for exactly two other projects - Somata and Zombie Dark Thirty and has become kind of a recurring trend as a reliable system to do what I want. Each game is radically different from the other, so putting in some legwork the third variant will ALSO be different.  But the core system remains relatively untouched.

Outside of that, the setting began growing on me, weird differences of Space and Fantasy, the drives of ascension into godhood, and the trials that followed. The “artistic style” the assets use was mostly inspired by early Final Fantasy, something that wasn’t intended at first, but grew on me. A nice flow between technology and fantasy has always been the Final Fantasy way, so a game based around that concept seemed easy enough to internalize. 

Alas, here we are. The Crucible beckons and we must ascend as a god or suffer the indignity of our failures. Away we go into that wild blue yonder.

I use AI Assets in this because my budget is $5 and a bowl of rice. "Ah man, why don't you just pick up a pencil!?"
